Options to suit all players
Jargar offers their cello strings in three different tensions, Forte (heavy), Medium and Dolce (light). Please note that the G and C strings are only available in medium tension. Lighter strings tend to respond better to the bow and are less tiring for extended periods of playing. While having a slower response to the bow, heavier strings tend to produce a louder and more intense sound. Medium sits in between these. This choice lets you pick the best string tension for your playing style. You can also mix and match different ranges of Jargar strings together to suit your playing best.
About Jargar
Jargar began in 1956 after years of experimentation by Danish cellist, Jarl Hansen. Hansen wanted more from his cello than the gut strings he was using could provide. Hansen developed a string with a core of steel and wound with pure or alloyed metal. Like many other string makers, Hansen realised that steel cores offered far greater stability, durability and stronger tone than gut. Hansen's strings grew to be extremely popular amongst classical musicians and the company expanded to making strings for violin, viola and double bass as well as the cello.
Jargar Superior cello strings, a further development of Jargar's "Special" strings, offers even more projection and power as well as warmth and brilliance. Considered more of a soloist string, it is ideal for all musicians looking for a little more edge in their playing.
